10 hit

A 10 Hit Combo (10連コンボ Jūren Konbo) is a move available to almost all characters throughout the Tekken series. Most characters have their own unique 10 Hit Combo, while others have multiple unique 10 Hit Combos. As indicative of their uniqueness to each character, they come to chain together attacks specific and significant to their fighting style.

A 10 Hit Combo is not an attack as such, but more a sequence of attacks, each requiring a specific and correctly timed button input. As each attack is a separate move, there are opportunities for the opponent to block, escape, or counter a 10 Hit Combo, but this demands a great deal of reaction timing and reading attacks correctly, as combos can aim for different targets of the body, and significant damage can be dealt even if not all hits connect.

10 Hit Combos can be difficult to execute, as many require quick and precise button inputs between subsequent attacks, and each combo has different pacing dictating the rhythm of how it is performed and what kind of attacks are unleashed, requiring study on the player's part. Missing a cue in a command chain will break the combo, leaving the player vulnerable to counterattack. In many cases, the attacks within a failed 10 Hit Combo will have significantly a slower recovery than the move's standalone counterpart. For example, in the Mishima Style 10 Hit Combo, if the combo is dropped after the fourth punch, which is simply the Demon Slayer string, the user will recover twelve frames slower than the Demon Slayer itself.

In Tekken 2 and Tekken 3, the player can view a 10 Hit Combo from the 'Display' option on the pause screen in practice mode. When selected, a command input will be displayed on screen, and a chime will sound to indicate correct inputs, allowing players to practice the timing of the combo. Pressing 'Select' while in this mode will have the computer demonstrate the combo.

From Tekken Tag Tournament onward, the 10 Hit Combos can be viewed from a character's Command List in the pause menu.
