Aiki Nage is a throw used by Asuka Kazama since her introduction in Tekken 5.
Description[]
Aiki Nage is a throwing technique from aikido, as implied by its name: aiki (合気 'unifying energy'[1]?), a term used to refer to the principles of aikido, nage (投げ throw?), the term used for throwing techniques in aikido.[2] The throw demonstrates a standard aikido practice of using flowing momentum and an opponent's weight against them in order to throw them.
When performing the move, Asuka approaches and grabs her opponent's right wrist. She raises it high to off balance her opponent, crossing her wrists as she does. She then drops their hand low and passes it to her right, causing the opponent's weight to fall forward and their body to turn. She keeps a hold of the wrist with her right hand and steps behind her opponent's now exposed back. In a smooth motion, she raises up the wrist again, maintaining an arm control that keeps her opponent's body off balance. She places a hand on her opponent's left shoulder, guiding them around in a full circle and ducking their head low. When they rise again, her arm is positioned to catch them by the chin and take them in the reverse direction, bringing them to the ground so that they land on their back.
Trivia[]
- In Street Fighter X Tekken, it became her Cross Art. Instead of grappling to her opponent, Asuka starts up with the Rising Elbow to grab her opponent then knocks it away with Mist Palm Thrust.
