Angel Jin (エンジェル仁 Enjeru Jin?) is a character in the Tekken series, first appearing in Tekken 8 as a playable character in the Story Mode and one of the final bosses in Arcade Mode. He is Jin Kazama's new angel form after overcoming the Devil Gene.

Biography[]

Angel Jin is the result of Jin Kazama conquering his Devil Gene and combining its power with that of the Kazama Clan's. He first appeared in Tekken 8's Story Mode after Jin returned to Yakushima and was able to speak with an apparition of his mother. He stops Kazuya from destroying the island, and the two battle fiercely on a falling comet.

Personality[]

Angel Jin's personality remains the same his human counterpart. He is determined to purify the Devil Gene, specifically from Kazuya, ridding the world of its influence.

Appearance[]

Angel Jin's body is made of silver armor, including all but his face and a small portion of his neck. His shoulders have tall, pointed ends which open around his trapezius, and the armor over his chest has a glowing gold design which trails down to his lower abdomen. More gold designs appear over the visible portion of his throat, and over his eyebrows, trailing down the sides of his face. His knees have spikes similar to pointed knee pads with golden accents trailing down from his upper thighs, and more gold spikes emerge from his calves. His gauntlets are also spiked at the elbow, glowing gold at the tips, and ending with clawed hands. His hair and horns take on the shape of a helm, covering the bridge of his nose with armor that has a glowing gold arrow leading down to the tip. The back of the helm spikes upwards similar to Devil Jin's normal hairstyle, with gold glowing tips here as well. From the back of his head, there is a plume of gold feathers, and at the front, the helm takes on a horn-like shape with swirling, pointed, feathered armor which also glows gold. In this form, he has golden wings, golden glowing irises, golden eyebrows, and pale gray lips.

Story[]

Tekken 8[]

Having overcome his inner demons and accepting the Devil Gene within himself, Jin combined both the Devil Gene with the powers of his Kazama blood to transform into Angel Jin, before taking the battle against True Devil Kazuya into space. The pair fight atop a meteor crashing into Earth as it continued to burn upon atmospheric descent. Though True Devil Kazuya would momentarily down Angel Jin, Angel Jin unleashed a purifying field before restraining True Devil Kazuya with purifying chains and dealing a powerful strike to True Devil Kazuya's abdomen.

Despite these attempts, the pair were still evenly matched and clashed with all their might. The sheer power from both sides canceled each other out, eventually erasing Azazel and the Devil Gene from both Jin and Kazuya. The pair eventually continue their fight after reverting back to their human selves.

Gameplay[]

Although Angel Jin mostly takes attacks from Devil Jin, many of these attacks such as Flash Punch Combo and Demon Steel Pedal are strengthened even further in the same vein as True Devil Kazuya. He has an Electric Wind Hook Fist he inherited from his human counterpart, which serves as a Tornado ender for his enhanced Hell's Gate. Besides his energy blades, barrier, and teleportation, he can also fire beams of light from his chest, fists, and forehead.

Additionally several attacks include Angel Jin being able to materialize a sword to strike his opponent. As one of the final bosses in Arcade Mode, his Rage Art will instantly K.O. to the player regardless of the player's remaining health.

Fighting Style[]

Angel Jin fights with the Mishima and Kazama fighting styles, but has greater abilities such as teleportation and control over angelic energy.

Trivia[]

General:

  • Angel Jin is similar to Angel, an aspect of Kazuya that first appeared in Tekken 2, as both represent the good within their respective vessels.
    • However, Angel is merely a physical manifestation of the good within Kazuya, while Angel Jin is an alternate form of Jin himself.
  • Angel Jin's ability to summon a sword may be a reference to Angel's Item Move in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Tekken 8:

  • Angel Jin can be fought as the final boss in Arcade Mode if the player gets three or more perfect rounds on Hard mode. This is only available if the player has cleared Chapter 14 of Story Mode, however. Winning against Angel Jin will unlock Angel Jin's splash art as an online profile background.
  • Angel Jin's appearance is somewhat similar to Devil Jin's final appearance in the non-canon Tekken: Blood Vengeance film, as both have portions of their bodies which are replaced with silver armor.
  • Angel Jin has the most Heat Engagers within his moveset.
