Blazing Kick (ブレイジングキック Bureijingu kikku?) was introduced in the Ver.B arcade edition of Tekken 2 as part of Lee Chaolan's movelist. It was also used by Ogre and True Ogre in Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament. The Ver.A edition of Tekken 2 does not have this move.
In older games, this move would not launch unless it was a counter hit. Starting with Tekken Tag Tournament, Lee's version would launch much higher and without requiring a counter hit, however Ogre's version retained the original properties as Tekken 2.
In both Tekken Tag Tournament and Tekken Tag Tournament 2, the move is tag bufferable.
The move's input was changed in Season 2 of Tekken 8, making it easier to perform.
The move also appeared in Street Fighter X Tekken as part of Ogre's moveset, but aside from having a similar animation, Ogre would also use pyrokinesis when using the move, befitting the move's name.
Usage[]
It has been somewhat of a staple move for Lee, as the sheer height of its launch allows for many possibilities. This move is indispensable for juggles, but the attack is very linear and as such vulnerable to sidestepping.
In Tekken 7, the move was changed to also hit grounded targets, making it an excellent follow-up for attacks that stun the opponent and leave them grounded.
