Descent into Subconscious is a stage in Tekken 8. It takes place solely inside Jin Kazama's mind.
Description[]
The first level of this stage takes place in a forest, with purple slime covering the ground and walls made of runes written in Chinese. The sky is blue and purple with a large moon, and many glowing lanterns, large rocks, and tree branches are floating in the air. Iron chains and tall stone lanterns can also be seen within the forest, with gravestones floating in the air. A gate burning with blue fire can be seen in front of fighters, with a large, monstrous, skeletal arm covered in chains holding the gate. Inside said gate is a whirling portal, more collapsed gates can be seen in the opposite side of the gate. There is also a skeleton monster with red eyes behind the gate who is watching the fight. On the opposite side of this gate, there are multiple, smaller gates, some of which have collapsed into the ground while the others trail off into the sky. At the base of some of the trees and around some of the grounded lanterns are red spider lilies.
A Hard Floor Break is on the first level. The first hard hit to the floor will make the slime change color to magenta, and the next hit will break the floor and take the fighters to the second level. The second level is a throne room. The room is floating in the air held by several iron chains, floating statues can be seen in the room and the chandeliers are wobbly, flying rocks can also be seen in the sky, there is a normal Floor Break on this level.
Triggering the Floor Break will take the fighters to the final level of the stage, which is in a bright desert, contrasting starkly with the first two levels. Several strange broken statues entangled by iron chains can be seen in the background, with three hands holding two water balls, and a rainbow aura surrounding one ball. The desert is quite large and its walls are red transparent chains the fighters can only see while near the wall. Some barren trees and a small forest and some static flying birds with blue trails of light behind them can also be seen in the background and sky.

Trivia[]
- Prior to Tekken 8's full release, the name of this stage was misspelled as "Descent into Subconcious".
- The first level of this stage appears to have elements of the Hell's Gate stage from Tekken 5 and the Fallen Garden stage from Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The second level is a remake of Gargoyle's Perch from Tekken 6, although with Fallen Garden's background color and destroyed walls along with damage done to the throne.
- Projections of Jin and Jun Kazama can be seen sitting on fallen trees and walking respectively in the far distance on the final level of this stage, likely an homage to their appearances in the intro of the console versions of Tekken Tag Tournament.
- Their projections cannot be seen if either of the two are selected as the fighters.
- The projections will also disappear if the fighters get too close to them.
- The projections will also disappear if the Photo Mode is on.
- The red spider lilies on the first level of this stage are known in Chinese and Japanese mythology to be those that grow in Hell. These flowers also guide the dead to their next reincarnation.[1]
- The stone lanterns on this stage are also used in the background of the Yakushima stage.
- If the second level's floor is broken, the background music will change to the Climax version immediately. This is the third stage to have this feature in the series, after Tekken 7's Island Paradise and another stage within Tekken 8, Ortiz Farm.
- Incidentally, this means that both stages in Tekken 8 where the final stage gimmick is a Floor Break feature this effect.
- This feature is disabled if the player sets the stage music to different music using the Jukebox feature.
- Cathedral, Gargoyle's Perch, and Winter Palace's BGMs are played for the three levels respectively in this stage during Jin Kazama's struggle against Devil Jin in the Story Mode of Tekken 8.
- All of the three stages are Jin and Devil Jin's home stages in previous Tekken games.
- If the fight stays on the first level and the fighters do not perform any hits to the floor, at the beginning of match point, several strikes of lightning will hit the floor and make the slime change color to magenta, then the Hard Floor Break will only need one hit to trigger.
- This will not occur in the Character Episodes mode of this stage.
- The final level of this stage was originally shown in screenshots following Jun Kazama's reveal, but the entire stage was not shown until Raven's reveal trailer.
- In the Character Episodes mode of this stage, the fight only stays on the first level.
- Jin Kazama is the only exception, his fight will automatically enter the second level in Stage 3 and 4, and the final level in the Final Stage on this stage.
- After the 1.04.00 patch, there is a purple halo on the ground to denote the location of the walls on the final level.
