Feng Wei (Chinese: 馮威 Féng Wēi; Japanese: フェン・ウェイ Fen Wei; It may be written with given name first as Wei Feng) is a fictional Chinese character from the Tekken franchise of fighting games. He was introduced in Tekken 5 as one of the three new characters (the other two being Asuka Kazama and Raven) and has returned for all subsequent games.
Biography
Personality
A ruthless and merciless martial artist. Feng has a lust for power and fighting, which can be seen as both a strength and weakness, as while he was skilled enough to be the best in his class, his greatest flaw is that his addiction and impulsive urge to start fighting eventually got the better of him, causing him to murder his master after he scolded him for fighting outside the dojo. He seeks to become the strongest fighter in the world, and is not afraid to show his full power against any opponent that gets in his way, and has destroyed many dojos and hurt many innocents in his wake to obtain what he desires. He also seems to loathe weak people, as he says to Asuka, "the weak don't deserve to live", when responding to why he attacked her father.
Despite this, Feng does have a vague sense of honor, as he accepts defeat, when Wang defeats him in the Arcade Story Mode. Rather than recovering and trying to kill him as he did to his master, Feng bowed down before him as a sign of respect, and acceptance of the fact that he was defeated by him. Although Feng is prone to malicious acts, he is not strictly diabolical, as he simply wishes to be the strongest; those who do not stand directly between him and his goal are usually of no concern to him, and he has no desire for world domination.

Version 1: Feng Wei. A Chinese Kenpo master. As a disciple of the 'God Fist' style, by 20, he was the top student in his dojo. When his master scolded him for fighting outside the school, Feng killed him. To retrieve the 'Secrets of God Fist' scrolls stolen by the Mishimas he joins the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. [1]
Version 2: Master of Chinese Kenpo, Feng Wei continues training on his path to become the strongest fighter alive.
As a young boy, Feng Wei began training under a Kenpo master who was so skilled he was known as Shinken, or one who possesses 'Divine Fists'. As he matured Feng Wei became, without a doubt, the strongest fighter at his dojo.
In his quest to be the strongest however, he broke the dojo's rules forbidding contests with martial artist of other styles. When his master tried to interfere, Feng Wei killed him. It is during this confrontation Feng Wei learns that, in order to truly master the art, he must learn the secrets hidden in the Shinken scrolls that were stolen by the Mishima clan.
Feng Wei enters the King of Iron Fist Tournament intent on recovering the secret scrolls.[2]
Version 3: As a boy, Feng Wei was raised as a disciple by a Kempo master who was so skilled that he was known as Shinken (神拳, literally God Fist). At 20 years of age, Feng was the best student his school had ever seen. When his master scolded him for fighting outside the dojo, Feng killed him. Now Feng seeks the secrets of the God Fist scrolls stolen by the Mishima family, and enters the fifth King of Iron Fist Tournament to do so.
Asuka Kazama and Lei Wulong have connections with this ruthless, merciless Kempo fighter. Feng severely beat Asuka's father and destroyed his dojo in his search for the scrolls, while Lei is trying to capture Feng for his similar actions in China.[citation needed]
Ending Description: Feng manages to retrieve the God Fist scroll in the fifth King of Iron Fist Tournament and, after reading and studying the vague scroll, he is seen practicing his new powers, and manages to destroy an entire mountain with a single strike.
Tekken 6
Version 1: Feng Wei entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 in order to recover the 'Shinken' scrolls, secret records of the mystical art of the God Fist, from the Mishima Zaibatsu. He broke into the Mishima Zaibatsu's hidden vault and successfully retrieved them. However, he found that the scrolls contained no secret technique. Rather, they contained only one teaching. "He who destroys all other fighting styles and makes them his own shall become a warrior superior to all men, the Dragon God." After the tournament, Feng spent his days traveling the globe and fighting against warriors of various martial arts styles. One day, he heard rumors of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6. Seeking even greater power, he heads for Japan once again.[3]
Version 2: Feng Wei joined The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 to recover from the Mishima Zaibatsu the Shinken scrolls, secret records of the mystical Art of the Divine Fist. Version 3: Feng Wei was successful in retrieving the treasured "God Fist" scroll from the Mishima Zaibatsu during the fifth King of Iron Fist Tournament. The scroll merely stated, "Destroyer of all styles, the one true ultimate style, it transcends the power of The Dragon God, which exceeds all human ability.".
Dumbfounded, Feng receives information about the sixth King of Iron Fist Tournament, and, seeking more information, he once again looks towards Japan.[citation needed]
Ending Description: Feng Wei is standing on top of an active volcano when a large, flaming boulder is fired from the volcano towards him. After seeing it, Feng focuses and simply punches it, cooling the rock and scattering molten rock all around him. Feng puts his hands together, nods and opens his eyes.
Tekken 7
Prologue Text: Feng Wei had always abided by what was written on the God Fist scroll: "Defeat all other masters and conquer their styles; the perfect warrior transcends all to become the Dragon God." Having fought masters of many different styles, Feng returned to his childhood training ground to continue his intense training regime. Then, one day, an unexpected visitor appeared before Feng: a mysterious man who exuded strength. When the man made it clear that his desire was to fight, Feng had no reason to refuse.
He accepted his opponent's challenge in silence, and prepared to battle.
TEKKEN 7 - Feng Wei Ending & Intro (TEKKEN 7 Character Endings)
Ending Description: After Feng's victory, Law flips back up and challenges him again. Even though Law manages to deliver a powerful strike to the abdomen, Feng delivers an even more powerful blow that knocks Law out cold.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Feng returns in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 as a playable character. He retains his moveset from Tekken 6, with a few new moves added. His item move is a flying nimbus cloud (similar to the one in the Dragon Ball franchise) that allows him to fly when tagged out.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 - 'Feng Wei Ending' TRUE-HD QUALITY
Ending Description: Feng is seen meditating in his dojo, with several bowls of sake balanced on his head, arm joints and knees. Asuka Kazama suddenly appears and challenges Feng to a battle in order to get her dojo's sign back. Feng, engrossed in his meditation, takes no notice of her, and Asuka attacks him in order to show him she is serious, only for him to dodge her attacks and counterattack effortlessly, sending Asuka flying into a nearby building. After she recovers, she smirks and stomps the ground lightly. This causes the bowls to shatter, soaking Feng and finally breaking his concentration. The scene cuts to Asuka heading home with her sign in hand, only to bump straight into Feng, and fall backward. A very much displeased Feng advances on the helpless Asuka, who screams in fear as the cutscene fades out.

Fighting Style
Feng Wei fights using God Fist Style Chinese Martial Arts, a highly devastating and aggressive style that is equally athletic as it is powerful. The style emphasizes on palm-striking techniques, versatile kicks and erratic whirling strikes. Though fictional, the style is primarily based on the Cantonese martial art Hung Gar.

Character Relationships
- Feng's master - Feng killed his master when the latter scolded him for fighting outside the dojo.
- Lei Wulong - Lei tries to arrest him in Tekken 5 and Tekken 6. Feng knew Lei beforehand as the "inventor of the five form Kung Fu."
- Mr. Kazama - Feng severely injured Mr. Kazama and put him in the hospital, as well as destroying his dojo.
- Asuka Kazama - His enemy. Asuka was hunting Feng down for severely injuring her father.
- Wang Jinrei - Feng respects Wang after fighting him in Tekken 5. They have a long discussion in Wang's (non-canonical) Scenario Campaign playthrough, where he forgives Feng Wei on behalf of his master. Feng is extremely grateful to Wang for this.[5]

- Paul Phoenix - Feng also fought against him in Marshall Law's ending in Tekken 7, but was defeated by him. However, Feng refuses to accept his defeat, which causes him to release his aura. After seeing how dangerous Feng is, both Paul and Law ran away.

- Feng Wei's name written in Chinese as (馮威/冯威 Féng Wēi), where in (馮/冯 Féng) is the surname, and (威 Wēi) is his given name. He is currently the only Chinese character (with a Chinese name) in the Tekken series who does not have a double given name.
- Feng Wei wears iron rings around his wrists. This is most likely to add weight to his arms to increase resistance as well as providing defense against opponents. These are mainly used in Hung Gar and Yau Kung Mun styles of martial arts. They have also appeared in various popular cultures such as Jackie Chan's film Drunken Master and Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle.
- In Kung Fu Hustle, they are used by a practitioner of Hung Gar and in the Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon series, the Earthbender style is based off of Hung Gar.
- Feng's style of meditation in his Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ending is a direct reference to the Chinese martial arts film Drunken Master, in which the character Wong Fei-hung (played by Jackie Chan) is forced to do a similar technique in his training.
- Due to his appearance and fighting style, Feng's design may be based on Retsu Kaioh from the manga/anime series, Grappler Baki.
- Feng is similar, and has been compared to, Gato (from SNK Playmore's Fatal Fury series and King of Fighters series), who also fights with Chinese Martial Arts.

- Feng Wei also bares similarities to Hokuto no Ken′s Raoh; both prodigies of Chinese Kenpo and yet ambitious to the point of murdering their own master, seeking greater strength.
- Feng's character and backstory bear much similarity to Akuma's from Street Fighter. Feng and Akuma are both driven to become the strongest in the world by seeking out tough opponents to destroy. Both of their motivations are more about personal strength and perfection rather than seizing power. Though they are both malicious, they do have a personal code of honour. They both killed their masters in a fight that they are held responsible for and hunted for, but which both their masters in fact were proud of them for achieving.
- His sub-bosses Are Lei Wulong and Asuka Kazama.
- Feng Wei can be customized to resemble Guan Yu (關 羽/关 羽 Guān Yǔ) from the Three Kingdoms period during Imperial China and the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel by Luo Guanzhong.
- The fact that Feng attacked Asuka's father's dojo could be a subtle reference to Bruce Lee's famous film Fist of Fury, except in reverse: the Chinese martial artist is the villain and the Japanese are the victims in this case.
- Feng Wei can be customized to resemble Lu Bu , Sun Wukong, Kilik from Namco's Soulcalibur series, and Vega from the Street Fighter series.
- Feng's item move has causes his forehead to shine when he Ki Charges. His second item move has him pull out a staff and extends it to strike the opponent.
- Feng Wei's second item move is a reference to Sun Wukong's staff which is fabled to be about twenty feet at full length, but can be shortened or extended at the will of its user.
- In Wang Jinrei's Tekken 6 Scenario Campaign dialogues, he states that he has spoken to Lei Wulong on Feng's behalf and that he will no longer be hunted for his master's death. Feng's master is not mentioned after this game and neither do the police seem to be hunting Feng any more, so it is likely that this interaction is canon.[6]
- In Ghost Battle, there is a Feng ghost named after professional Japanese player Yuu.
