Harakiri (不憂 Urei-nashi?, No Worries) is a move used by Yoshimitsu since Tekken 2.

Yoshimitsu will stab himself in the abdomen before collapsing. If the opponent makes contact with Yoshimitsu's sword when it passes through him, they will suffer damage. Since its debut, the damage Yoshimitsu suffers is 60, the same amount as he may potentially inflict.

Unlike Suicide or Double Suicide, the timing when Yoshimitsu takes damage is closer to the opponent's at the attack's peak, and the user is more likely to suffer a Double K.O. rather than knocking their opponent out alone in this range. Since Tekken 6, attempting to perform this attack during Mutou no Kiwami will cause Yoshimitsu to temporarily teleport himself out before returning to his default stance. Additionally, he suffers and deals no damage when performing the attack during the Mutou no Kiwami.

Trivia[]

  • Harakiri's literal meaning is "stomach cutting" (腹切), and refers to disemboweling oneself as part of ritual Seppuku.
    • In Tekken 8, when performing this move, Yoshimitsu will exclaim "Seppuku".
  • The Japanese name of Harakiri (as well as Suicide) may have been derived from Chapter 9 of the Analects, Zǐ hǎn (子罕), where one of the lines states "The Master said, ‘The wise are not confused, the Good do not worry, and the courageous do not fear.’"[1] (子曰:「知者不惑,仁者不憂,勇者不懼。」); the Japanese name for Suicide is "不惑", and the Japanese name for Harakiri is "不憂".
