Heaven's Wrath (三島流・金剛壁の構え Mishima-Ryū: Kongōheki no Kamae?, lit. "Mishima-Style: Stance of Vajra Wall"), also called the Diamond Wall Reversal or Glowing Hands, is an attack reversal used by Heihachi Mishima from Tekken 4 to Tekken 7 as an evolution of his Right Kick Reversal‎. The move was replaced in Tekken 8 by Charging Hard.

Description[]

Heihachi waves his arms around in a focused horse stance to catch an incoming attack, normally a mid or high attack with any limb.

Unlike the more "standard" Attack Reversal, Heihachi does not redirect the force of his opponent; he stops it by taking the blow to his face and grabbing the limb his opponent attacked with, then doing damage by kicking the opponent away. In contrast to his Right Kick Reversal, Heaven's Wrath now reverses all the attacks an Attack Reversal would (i.e. high and mid attacks of any type), and not just Right Kicks.

Notably, Heihachi can also reverse certain attacks that would normally go over normal Attack Reversals such as some of Yoshimitsu's sword attacks, knees, and elbows.

If Heihachi counters an attack that uses both arms at the same time or charges towards him head-on, he will catch them with a Jumping Powerbomb. Likewise, if Heihachi catches a move that uses both legs at the same time, he will perform a quicker Jumping Powerbomb.

If not used against the opponent and the move is completed, it gives Heihachi the same attack properties of a Ki Charge, causing the next attack to be a Counter Hit if it connects. Likewise, the opponent's next hit becomes a guaranteed counter since a supercharged character cannot block.

Usage[]

While Heihachi is guaranteed to eat a significant amount of damage for little return, the true value of Heaven's Wrath can be found in its flexibility against most attacks. Several attacks that cannot be reversed normally or are only selectively reversed such as shoulder tackles, attacks involving elbows, knees or weapons and several running attacks can easily fall victim to Heaven's Wrath.

As Heihachi still incurs damage from the reversal, Heaven's Wrath should primarily be used as:

  • A way to reverse attacks that the player does not have time to dodge or interrupt, like a Lightning Screw Uppercut.
  • Can be used to finish an opponent when you already have a decent life lead or to punish them when they are taking advantage of their plus frames.

Trivia[]

  • The move's Japanese name can also translate as either "Stance of Diamond Wall" or "Stance of Adamantine Wall".
