Roundhouse to Triple Spin Kicks or Phantom Demon Spiral Kick (螺旋幻魔脚 Rasen Genma Kyaku?) is a move used by Kazuya Mishima since Tekken 2, and is later used by Jin Kazama until Tekken Tag Tournament. Since Tekken 5, the move is also used by Devil Jin. Angel is also able to perform this move in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Devil Jin's input for the move was changed in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection due to the introduction of Wraith Kick. The u+4 input was later instead given to Samsara.

In the original Ver.A arcade release of Tekken 2, the move consisted of two separate three-hit combos, both of which were a Rising Sun followed by a mid or low kick finisher depending on the input. In Tekken 2 Ver.B, the two moves were merged to form the current four-hit combo. In most games, the move can also be started with u+4, albeit with less range.

In Tekken 3, the Spinning Demon portion of the attack would have an anti-Ukemi effect, sending the opponent straight to the ground and removing the ability for the Spinning Demon kicks to juggle, however this was rectified in Tekken Tag Tournament. As of Tekken Tag Tournament, the user will stagger if either Spinning Demon sweep is blocked, however if the user inputs the u+4,4,4,4 variation, only the second sweep will stagger on block.

Before Tekken 6, the move rarely could be fully used by Jin/Devil Jin or Kazuya as the first hit knocked down the opponent and as result the first low kick would miss, but the rest of the string would connect, and if the first hit was instead blocked while standing, the second hit would connect and knock the opponent off their feet, leaving them vulnerable to the final kicks.

Jin would later regain access to this move along with Rising Sun when he re-adopts the Mishima-style Karate in Tekken 8's story mode.

Usage[]

Being a move with a successive amount of multiple hits, the roundhouse kicks are a good choice for amateur players who wish to inflict a respectable amount of damage to their opponents. However, during high-level play the roundhouse kicks can be very predictable due to its speed and obvious pattern, meaning this move is used only as a combo finisher against large characters like King, Armor King, Jacks, Kuma/Panda.

Trivia[]

  • As the name implies, this move is essentially a chain of spinning kicks. The first kick hits high while the next two are low-hitting, and finally the last kick hits mid. This move, along with the Tsunami Kick, were probably inspired by the Street Fighter series, where Ryu, Ken, and Akuma perform a similar move, albeit with different properties.
  • The last two hits are the same as Jin's animation for the Spinning Demon in Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament, and Devil Jin since Tekken 5.
  • This move animation is a Rising Sun and a Spinning Demon combined (Devil Jin variant).
  • While the full combo did not exist until Tekken 2, the first two hits were used by both Kazuya and Heihachi as their u/f+4,4 since the first game. Heihachi would only keep the two hits until Tekken 5 and this would be listed as Rising Sun.
  • In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, this move appears as Kazuya's up-forward tilt.
