The player chooses a tag team of two characters and bowls with them. The first tag team member goes first. If that character doesn't get a strike, the second tag team member must try to knock the remaining pins down to get a spare. If a strike is achieved, both characters perform one of their win animations.
The player chooses a character and bowls with them. After a strike, the player's character will perform an animation, usually one of their win animations. However, if the player hits the highest level on the meter gauge, the character throws themselves along with the ball down the lane, which results in a foul.
Free Bowl App
Tekken Bowl was released as a free app in 2011.
The only playable characters are Jin, Xiaoyu, and Panda. All three characters have unique skills: Jin is an all-rounder, Xiaoyu has high control over the movement of the ball but the weakest throwing power, while Panda is the other way around. It has three modes: Basic, Pass & Play, and Puzzle. It supports Game Centre Achievement and in-game medals to collect. There are also two Mokujin cameos; they are both seen separately banging on the gong. One of them always disappears during a win animation after a strike, but comes back afterwards.
Tekken 7 had a version of Tekken Bowl that came along with other customizations and swimsuit DLCs on 31 August 2017.
This version of Tekken Bowl is the same as in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, but more realistic. The mechanics of the game are similar to real life, where the bowling frames can be seen.
When the player overcharges, the characters throw themselves along with the ball to the lane, ending in a foul. It also has camera angles to see it from both sides rather than in the centre. Therefore when the player got a spare, the characters will perform their exclusive win animations and their usual win animations. But if the player misses on the last ball, they also have an exclusive lose animation where they either shrugged in disappointment or dismayed from getting a gutter and a miss. Once the game is over or getting a strike, the characters do their usual pre-fights or win animations. When the player makes more strike or Turkey the bowling stage will change its color as well as the lighting after the characters perform the win animations.
Interestingly, if a character continuously gets misses or gutter balls while playing a bowling set, they will begin sweating, as the wet sweat effect will appear on them. It unknown whether or not this is intentional. Also, characters originally did not say anything when they went to go bowl their balls, but as of the later patches, characters will now utter one of their hit sounds depending on how hard they bowl the ball.
The only characters which different overcharges animation & spectator is Noctis Lucis Caelum.
