Twin Pistons (無双連拳 Musō Renken?, lit. "Unmatched Chain Fist") is an attack used by Heihachi Mishima in his debut in Tekken that was removed in Tekken 6 for Muso Tettsui. In Tekken 7, only Awakened Heihachi is capable of using this attack either as a Treasure Battle boss or in the final stage of the Mishima Saga. In Tekken 3, Doctor Bosconovitch can also perform the move.
In Tekken Tag Tournament, the second hit is tag bufferable.
Due to the strength of having a fast 13-frame standing launcher, Heihachi's ability to punish others was at its frightening peak. Despite attempts to nerf the attack by making the second hit less safe on block, the move was still too powerful and was consequently removed in Tekken 6.
In Tekken 8, Heihachi gains a similar move named Reverse Muso Renken, where it becomes a launcher when Warrior Instinct is activated. Despite this, Heihachi regains the classic Twin Pistons in the finale of Unforgotten Echoes by replacing the second hit of Muso Tekken into his Ultimate Demon God Fist.
Description[]
In its original appearance, the move was identical to Kazuya's Twin Pistons, but it was reanimated in Tekken 2 to have the second hit be Demon Uppercut instead. In the PlayStation version of Tekken, Heihachi's second uppercut hits 1 frame earlier than Kazuya's, at the cost of 1 recovery frame.
Unlike Kazuya however, Heihachi has still kept this first d/f+1 uppercut animation portion of the Twin Pistons. Like Kazuya's Entrails Smash, however, said initial uppercut was repurposed for so far three different followups within Heihachi's command list as the series went on.
Trivia[]
- The attack reappears in Tekken 7 as part of Heihachi's Rage Art.
