Wavedash is a technique that was introduced in Tekken 3. In Japan, it is also known as Wind God Step (風神ステップ, Fūjin suteppu), though the term wavedash (ウェーブダッシュ, wēbu dasshu) is used as well. The command input is a DP motion type where in N stands for Neutral between f and d inputs.

Move information[]

In order to Wavedash, a character must have the Mishima f,n,d,d/f Crouch Dash or something in a similar vein. When performing the normal crouch dash, the player can input f during the dash to cancel the crouch dash into a forward dash. From the forward dash, the player can use the f that cancelled the first Crouch Dash to then perform a consecutive Crouch Dash. This process then loops at the discretion of the player.

Additionally, Kazuya has an alternate, simplified command of f, N, d/f, f for his wave dash as it is a variant of the normal crouch dash command.

Armor King I and King II's wavedash is harder to perform as they cannot traditionally cancel their forward dash into a crouch dash like all other users. Instead, the player would have to skip the neutral in between f and d, d/f and needed to input f, d, d/f or f, qcf immediately to cancel into all the consecutive Crouch Dashes. In Tekken 8, this is no longer a case for King II.

Kazuya's Armored Wavedash[]

During his final battle against Jin, Kazuya gains the ability to perform up to three wavedashes with Power Crush properties in quick succession[1][2]. Most follow-ups from this wavedash will occur randomly and certain follow-ups can be done in certain conditions.

This wavedash can be countered by performing airborne attacks like Double Lift Kick, throws, and Rage Art. Jin can automatically parry incoming follow ups by standing still or can reverse it by holding b.
