Please note: This name is Chinese; "Wu" is a family name, not a given name; the given name of this character is "Zihao".
Wu Zihao (ウー・ズーハオ Ū Zūhao) is a minor, non-playable character in the Tekken series. He first appeared in Tekken 5 as the master of Feng Wei, whom he taught traditional Chinese martial arts.
Story[]
Wu Zihao was a sifu of the God Fist Style Chinese Martial Arts. He had his own martial arts school in rural China, where he trained pupils of all ages. At some point, the 'Secrets of the God Fist' scrolls belonging to the school were stolen by the Mishima Zaibatsu.
Zihao was a renowed martial artist, known as the 'God Fist', a title that his pupil, Feng Wei, would later claim for himself. Zihao was also known for his martial arts philosophy, that preached that it is essential for one's heart to be in line with one's technique.
Among Zihao's pupils was one student who trained with them since childhood, Feng Wei. By the age of 20, Feng was the school's top student. His philosophy clashed with that of his master, and he desired to become the strongest at all costs. One day, Feng broke the school rules by fighting off school ground. Zihao reprimanded Feng, and Feng ended up killing his master.[1]
Feng was hunted for Zihao's murder, along with attacks he made on martial arts schools around the world. According to Wang Jinrei, however, an old acquaintance of Zihao, "If your master perished in fair combat against his disciple, he must have intended to do so."[3] Wang thus does not hold Feng responsible for Zihao's death, and instead sees the fight as Zihao's last lesson to his headstrong student.
Character Relationship[]
- Feng Wei - His pupil and murderer.
- Mokujin - He told Feng about him in the past.
- Wang Jinrei - Knew Feng's master, as Feng asks him if he has come for revenge.
- Leroy Smith - Leroy knows him by reputation and is aware of his teachings.
Trivia[]
- In Wang Jinrei's Tekken 6 Scenario Campaign dialogues, he states that he has spoken to Lei Wulong on Feng's behalf and that he will no longer be hunted for his master's death. After this, the police do not seem to be hunting Feng any longer, so it is likely that this interaction is canon.
- Prior to Tekken 8, Wu Zihao was unnamed, and known only as 'Feng's Master'.
- Although Zihao's philosophy implies a degree of serenity and inner calm, this appears to be at odds with the secret scrolls of his style, which, when Feng tracked them down, stated: "The one who destroys all other fighting styles and makes them his own shall become a warrior superior to all men, the Dragon God".[4] It is possible that the scroll could be interpreted however as learning from other styles, and breaking them down in the traditional martial arts sense, especially since the practitioner is then directed to incorporate these styles into their own.
