Yakushima is a stage in Tekken 8. It is situated on the Japanese island of Yakushima, home of the Kazama Clan, and birthplace of Jun Kazama and Jin Kazama.

Description[]

The stage is set in the mountainous forests of Yakushima, with enormous mossy Japanese cedars surrounding the scene, and small Sika deer standing around on the large tree roots and leaping around. Sacred prayer ropes are strung in the area and about one of the trees. The main stage is a shallow pool of clear water with islets of land, and sunbeams breaking through the foliage. In the largest tree trunk, an old stone shrine doorway can be seen, with overgrown stone steps leading up to it. The old shrine doorway also leads inside to the Sanctum stage.

In Story Mode, the old shrine doorway becomes a whirling portal and takes Jin Kazama to the Descent into Subconscious.

Background Music[]

The BGM is titled "TAMASHII".

Trivia[]

  • Despite the island being mentioned throughout the Tekken series, this is the first time a stage has been set on Yakushima.
  • "Tamashii" (魂), the name of the background music, is Japanese for "Soul".
  • Yakushima is the first stage since Tekken 4 and the only stage in Tekken 8 to feature elevation, though it is not noticeable during a normal match.
  • Yakushima's stage dimensions are 80 × 120, almost sixteen times the size of the normal stages.
    • It is currently the largest stage in Tekken 8.
  • The lyrics and chorus for the BGM of this stage are sung by Ryoko Shiraishi (not to be confused with Asuka Kazama's voice actor who shares the same name), who also sang "Landscape Under The Ghost" in both Tekken 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.[1]
